Deck Addition

Alameda, California

The owners wanted a deck that would give them very usable outdoor living space and make their kitchen feel more connected to the outdoors. The existing kitchen was high off the ground and was cut off from the garden by a pantry and partially enclosed exterior landing and stairs.

The pantry, landing and stairs were removed and a deck was added at the height of the kitchen floor. Built-in benches at the deck allow for easy outdoor meals. Lattice encloses a storage area below, making good use of that space. Construction details were thought out carefully to make the deck both beautiful and easy to build.

“Alexandra Saikley did an incredible job on our deck. She is willing to put in the extra time and effort to get the job done right. She is extremely flexible in her work schedule and was willing to meet with us multiple times to work out a design that included everything that we wanted and more. Her design for our deck brought the backyard into the house and basically created another room for our small craftsman. We received nothing but high praise for our finished deck and our contractor enjoyed working with Alexandra so much that he wanted to recommend her for all of his future projects. She is professional, creative and personable. Three qualities that you don’t always find, but you are so happy when you do.” – Client
