Victorian ADU Basement Rental

Our clients had lived in this lovely Victorian house for many years when they came to us with the request to find ways to make their house work best for them as they age. Part of this project was assessing the most expedient way to split the house into two units for retirement rental income. We looked at several options with the city planning and building departments, and settled on doing a simple conversion of an existing basement to a comfortable 1-bedroom rental unit, permitted as an ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit).
